I know it is the last battle fought on British soil - I've written a history of Scotland - available in word format - but tell me - Culloden - what should it be called?

thanks for all the replies - but, obviously, no-one knows their Scottish history. - The Battle of Culloden is correctly known as The Battle of Drumossie Muir or Moor.

The Battle of Culloden (April 16, 1746), was the last military clash ever to be fought on British soil, between the forces of the Jacobites, who supported the claim of Charles Edward Stuart (aka "Bonnie Prince Charlie") to the throne; and the Royal Army which supported the Hanoverian sovereign, King George II. Culloden brought the 1745 Jacobite Rising to a close. In fact, the rebellion was small but it had enormous psychological impact upon the Highland Scots, and severe civil penalties thereafter (e.g., it became a criminal offence to wear tartan). Thus, Culloden was a decisive defeat for the Jacobite cause, and Bonnie Prince Charlie left Britain and went to Rome, never to attempt to take the throne again.

It should have been called The Bloody defeat of the Scots.

Well...... it was the very 1st home international football game. Scotland were in the lead but the English bribed the ref, cheated by hiring 1 of Zidan's ancestors who headbutted our captain "Charlie" and the rest is history. The home internationals were cancelled very recently beacause they were getting even more violent!
