Ok this is pretty dum. I am a novice mac user and i have NO idea how to put characters into my words. Like the o with the two dots on the top. In PCs u use the character map, and font book doesnt seem to suggest anything. Help.

Keyboard shortcuts option and a specific letter...will come up as a highlight and then you type your letter and the thing will appear above it. I don't know much about all that, so that's the best I can do.

While in the Finder, under the Edit Menu, choose Special Characters (shitf-Apple-T)

The characters palette is the same for all apps. You can also choose to have the Characters Palette menu display in the top right of the menu near the time and volume. It will show-up as the Flag of the county of the keyboard mapping your computer is set to.

You can do this under System Prefs -> International -> Input Menu. The checkbox is at the very bottom.

Well typically a piece of macaroni is c shaped so the C's will be easy. If you put two pieces end to end in opposite dirctions it will make an S. Two pieces side by side facing each other will make an O...well I hope this helped.

first things first what brand mac is it? is it shells or just plain mac? is kraft or off brand?
