Sounds like Blossom End Rot. I grow mine in a container on the balcony, so I don't have this problem, but I've heard of it. You can find a zillion pages on Google about it - I linked one below.

Are they staked up and not dragging the ground? You can pick them right about the time they just begin to turn red and they will continue to ripen. It might help if they are rotting on the vine.

It's called blossom end rot. Most likely the soil is water logged. I had this problem last year.

hey at least you've GOT tomatoes. I only have 2 plants they each have one small green tomatoe that just wont grow! other then that you prolly dont have them stacked with those wire thingys
