Not a chance, Shouldn't have been McClaren either though, Alan Curbishley would have been a great choice for the England job, too much screwing around on the FA's part though. I thought it was great when Alan C said they should make a decision so everyone could just get on with their jobs, We need more like Curbishley. Shearer has not got the attitude to be a coach, just like Beckham hasn't. I predict that by 2026, Beckham will have a knighthood as will Shearer, but given for contribution to football as players and thats it.

There you all go again, we all know Alan has not been a manager before but give him a chance, he has not long retired from playing, as for him not making a good coach, how does anybody know what he is capable of. It`s the same with Steve he has been written off even before he starts properly,( I know he worked with Sven who was a disaster) But he has never been in total CHARGE of the team, just give him the chance to prove him self.

No, I think his loyaties will always lie with Newcastle, He went there in1996 from Blackburn despite keen interest from Man United. Think of the trophies he would have won if he had gone to the reds but he won none at Newcastle

That is how dedicated to Newcastle he is

No way, he should try managing a club first - too many players are given jobs untried

If he can prove himself by managing a premier team first, then give him a go. He certainly can't muck it up any worse then Sven...

No, of course not. But he may eventually become a good commentator. God knows... someone has to give the heave-ho to Lineker!
