I'm 26 & female, I plan to go to Montreal on vacation this summer, and I want to know: a)is it safe? and b)is it fun just for one?

ABSOLUTELY. Montreal is a very safe and fun city. Lots of things to do and explore.

Some of the best times I've ever had were as a single student living downtown, roaming around Montreal and exploring all its excellent museums, sites, and restaurants.

Now I'm old and married and boring, with the city's 47 summer festivals and 100s of cafes and other fun stuff taunting me because I'm trapped in my house all the time with a toddler and laundry and a job....

Your question has made me depressed about my life... thanks.

Yes, any Canadian city is relatively safe compared to the rest of the world, in spite of the novels by Cathy Reichs. There are lots of activities in Montreal in the summer, like the Jazz and Just for Laughs festivals. If you head to Crescent Street in the evening, there are lots of sidewalk-cafes and bars to meet people. Generally, Montrealers are much more outgoing than Torontonians. For culture you can head to Old Montreal, Place Jacques Cartier and for shopping along Ste-Catherine Street.

Bon Voyage!!

Montreal is an concepts-blowing position for a by using-myself destination. there are a mode of excellent golf equipment and maximum individuals are open-minded and extremely social! you'll likely have an concepts-blowing time! Quebec city is yet another good spot, even if it speaks truly a lot less english than in Montreal. even if the final public of Québécois comprehend english and would communicate it slightly.

No less safe than any other big city. And by yourself is no big deal, plenty of arts and history.
