I'm pretty much looking for a cultural experience, which friends my age ( 20's)don't really appreciate (they'd rather skip the museums and festivals). But I also like to have a pint(s) now and then...

Montreal is an amazingly safe city for single women travelers - even into the wee hours of the morning (especially downtown)! People are friendly and in summer the atmosphere is great (have a pint on one the city's many terrases ;)
And as for culture, it is what the city specializes in! Old Montreal, World-Class Museums (including Canada's only Contemporary Art Museum), International Jazz Festival, Just For Laughs Festival, etc... For a list of festivals happening in and around town, check out http://www.MontrealFestivals.ca !

Montreal is a great place for a by-myself vacation spot. There are lots of good clubs and most persons are open-minded and very social! You will probably have a great time! Quebec City is another great place, but it speaks a little less english than in Montreal. But the majority of Québécois understand english and can speak it a little.

Hi, I live here and it's a great place to vacation by yourself. There are tons of places to see, people are very friendly and easygoing, and it's SUPER safe. I used to come home from clubbing at 3AM and walk by myself. Nothing's ever happened to me! If you stay at a youth hostel, you could meet other travelers. There are 4 universities in town so lots of people your age. There's always some festival going on in the summer.

Montreal is fantastically safe, and if you are an explorer, yes, it is fun. We have lots of museums... you can go hiking on Mount-Royal and in Old Montreal... check out whatever festival is on (alot of stuff for free)... and no one is going to look at you funny eating by yourself in a restaurant.

Go go go!
I spent 26 years in the city (I was born there) and I loved it. It's friendly enough - went out late often without any problem - and there's lots to do. Enjoy! Every French person who went LOVED it (I live in France now - I like to move!) Plus, you may make friends along the way!

Probably not a lot of fun for you. Just my opinion, but it's not really worth visiting. Try Quebec City instead, or even Vancouver if you're really set on Canada.

Just be smart, don't go into any areas where you feel uncomfortable in the late evenings and you should be fine. It's a wonderful city!

it depends on your age. if your adult age, have moved out of your home and feel comfortable with this, then yes, if you are under the age of adults, then no.
