I feel like this a lot, even though when I am honest myself I know that I am NOT fat. Has anyone else felt like this? It is a total killjoy and a vicious and unfair habit that I can't seem to rid myself of. I have VERY high self-esteem and confidence, so this is not the problem. So, fellow women, how do you rid yourself of this cruel self-talk? Please help!

Thank you for your sincere answer, and have a nice day. :-)

I think almost EVERY woman has felt this way. But you're already doing what you need to do to rid yourself of these feelings, by telling yourself that you are NOT fat. Just keep repeating that every time you hear your little inner voice trying to tell you different.

I feel this way a lot. Generally though it occurs during women's periods for some odd reason. Maybe because of the constant cravings and we retain water during that time. It really bites. But it is a natural feeling. Maybe if you tried looking at a recent picture of yourself that you love where you look really thin and/or how you truly look. This way when you are feeling fat and horrible for no apparent reason you can tell yourself, "this is how I really look, the camera does not lie. I am thin and perfect the way I am. It is all in my head. I have not changed, I am still that thin and wonderful person in that picture."

I feel that way right now because of my period and the fact that I have been eating so much. Making myself feel like I have gained like 20 pounds. I know I am not stick thin but I am definitely not fat. But sometimes I feel like the fattest person in the world. But then I try and force myself to think positively and look at myself how I really am.

I know it sucks, but these constent messages telling us to be thin make us always worried about our appearance and weight. It is the sad reality of being a girl. You are not alone.

I feel fat but I'm not. I haven't figured out a way to rid myself of the self hatred, but if you find a way, let me know.

if you have to question it,then you're probably still insecure, not necessarily alot, maybe a bit.i feel bloated & that seems as if i'm fatter but when i weigh myself,it's still about the same.the only way to rid of the self-criticism is to not compare oneself with anyone else.as long as we're not blind,it's difficult not to judge & compare.i still feel fat sometimes even if people i know ask me why i'm so skinny, but i think i'm average weight though, considering my height.the only way to solve this dilemma is to get rid of the full length mirrors, only keep the compact mini mirrors,so that we won't be tempted to study & self-critique our bodies.

Like most women yes. But these days in societies eyes if your not a size 2 then your fat. I think that a person should not worry if they are fat or not they should be comfortable with whom they are. It is what makes you who you are......

Be unique

I know that you are addressing this to females and may not want to hear my answer. I am a father, grandfather, brother and uncle. I know that it is common for girls (and boys) to think they are fat when they're not. I have a niece that is anorexic. That is what happens when you start obsessing about it. Be careful anorexia can kill.

Unfortunately I do not have this problem because I am actually overweight, lol. I do know a lot of girls that feel that way though. You say that you don't believe it so I don't know any ways to help.

I have recently. Even though I'm very skinny, but not annorexic.
I just change into a loose fitting tee.
It helps.
