I would say never. You should *never* give anything other than formula or water in a bottle (or milk when baby is over a year old).

When your baby is ready for solids (usually between 6 and 12 months old), you can offer bits of food that she/he can pick up with her/his fingers and eat; real food is tastier and more nutritious than so-called "baby food" goo. It teaches baby to eat healthy, a habit that will serve her/him well throughout life.

Signs of readiness for solids include the ability to sit unsupported, the appearance of teeth, and the development of the "pincer grasp"--when a baby picks up small objects with the thumb and *one* finger. If a baby has all of these (or *at least* 2), she/he may be ready for solids. Otherwise, just wait.

Introducing babies to cereal is usually around 4 months of age. If your baby is a preemie, I would double check. A pediatrician should be directing you at each of the well-baby visits.

I never gave my children any kind of cereal or baby food in a bottle. Babies swallow from bottles much differently than they do from a spoon - and this could lead to choking.

When giving your baby cereal, always check to see if they can eat it off the spoon, roll it on their tongue, and show genuine interest in swallowing. Granted, the first few times will be quite messy, but if the baby is old enough, then he'll get the hang of it very quickly.

Baby food is usually started at about 5 months of age. This is because you always need to give at least a few days before switching to a new food. If you don't wait a few days between foods, it'll be harder to distinguish which exact food may give him an allergic reaction.

I was just at the doctor with my 2 month old daughter and the doctor told me that I could start introducing her to food, not just cereal, at 3-4 months. If you would like to give your baby cereal at bedtime I would recommend waiting till the baby is about that age(3-4 months). I have given my kids cereal in bottle and I had no problem with it. I did find that when I had my second son that they had these special bottles for introducing your baby to a spoon. It pushes the liquefied food up as you push up on the bottom of the bottle. They have different attachments to it. One is a regular nipple, a sip-pie cup nipple that is flatter, and a spoon that has a hole so that the food is coming out on to the spoon part. It works and I found it a good help in the transition. This is a link that could help you with others question that you may have later on and also about first foods and such. Good Luck!!!

If you feel your baby is a hungry baby and not lasting the normal 4 hours thing then you can introduce a baby rice cereal after a few months say 3-4 mths. At the 10am feed after bathtime mix one teaspoonful with some formula or breast milk make it very sloppy and feed it to baby then give the rest of the bottle. After this dont worry if baby doesnot finish the whole bottle and baby should settle better for you. Later on after a month or so you can also mix a small amount of stewed apple in with the cereal. dont forget there are a lot of guidelines about baby feeding and they have to cater for people who do not have a clue and need step by step instructions. check with your baby clinic or the nurse at the pharmacy when they have baby club

It is recommended to wait until 6 months or longer if the baby is breastfed. If not, just don't start cereal before 3 months.

I don't know what you mean about "gooey stuff in a bottle", but cereal should be introduced between 4 nd 6 months of age, depending on your baby's readiness and your baby's pediatrician's recommendation.

It is OK around 4 months, however the American Academy of Pediatrics recommends waiting until 6 months if possible. You shouldn't be putting anything into a bottle. The increased age recommendations are because they are finding that babies that get early cereal in their bottles or by spoon (before around 4months) have increased difficulties due to immature digestive systems and tongue thrust reflex. Studies are also showing that early feeding can cause obesity and diabetes later in life.

Well the last time I read it was 4-6months but I did it at less than 1 month. Start with rice and every other week add a different cereal. Only one at a time to see if there allergic or not.Stay away from wheat until they are older as it is a high allergen cereal.

toddler's might want to not have something besides breastmilk or formula till 6 months of age. the yankee Academy of Pediatrics is truly sparkling about this. that's likewise VERY risky to provide a toddler cereal in a bottle. it would want to reason disillusioned abdomen, unexpected extreme weight earnings, and choking. once the toddler is 6 months old, cereal would nicely take delivery of, yet might want to purely take delivery of with a spoon. in simple terms because they make particular bottles for it does not make it ok, and in simple terms because some little ones eat solids early and finally end up nice does not propose that that's going to be finished. there is clinical study to teach that giving solids earlier 6 months and putting cereal in a bottle are both risky. Please see the area lower than for further assistance on beginning solids.
