I've got a potential freelance job, a writing book or a screen play for somebody who has trouble getting it down himself. I've never done screenplays before. It's been mostly articles. I'm really nervous about this. Any suggestions? Thanks!

Wolf, you misunderstood. I HAVE written before and been published, just not the kind of thing this guy wants.

Totally make sure you get credit for doing it. Simply have a plot you can follow and that flows and go from there. The charachters actually make it or brake it so good luck. Screen plays are the most fun because you get to use your own experiances.

I know this is kind of late, but oh well....

Screenwriting can be hard at first. There are many rules and you have to follow format (though you can buy a program that does the format for you). I would suggest to your friend that you've never done this before, and he could maybe go somewhere like elance.com, as suggested above, and find someone who's done it before. If you are still interested in writing screenplays though, go for it. There are many different websites that teach you HOW. You still have to practive, write good plots (have a good high concept as well), ect.

If you want any info. like websites and such, feel free to email me. ;)

Good luck,
Ashley

Since you have never written, you may want to refer your friend to Elance.com. It is a website where people can hire ghostwriters for projects. I've seen a number of requests for someone to ghostwrite books and novels.

There are professionals in all areas looking for writing assignments of all types.

As you are nervous about it, don't do it. Let a professional do it. You don't want to jeapordize your friendship with your friend if the screenplay doesn't come out the way he wants it.

As you have written articles, the site may be of interest to you also.

If you have ever done any creative writing (Fiction) then you may try to imagine the story that you're writing as a movie or play, and you think of what people would do while they were saying a certain thing. Try and follow those guidelines. Ask for their plot and if they don't have any ideas then make something up yourself, everything will just flow together.

Find some published screenplays to see what is involved. it won't be easy. but don't stop doing articles, and try doing a book since it may be better than you think. just stick to what you know, rthe rest is just another step.

Make sure your new employer knows you're nervous, and ask for some assistance. Do a google search for "screen play writing" or something. Try to write for yourself and no one else. Above all, make sure you enjoy the writing you are doing.

im writing a screenplay for my first directorial debut. its easier than you think, make sure its witty and let it come easy. but make sure it will be a piece to remember and dont let it fall under the category of the rest of these sh!tty pieces that have come out. it may seem like lots of presure, but you want your work to stand the test of time.

First of all..congratulations! That's wonderful.

Second of all....is there anyone that you could ask about it? Maybe an old friend, or maybe someone from a college or university. I say take it! That's an excellent opportunity and a wonderful learning experience.
