Don't worry, I'm not considering ending my own life. I just live in the Bay Area & was curious why so many seek out the bridge as their final destination.

Because if you choose that way to go, you are 99.9% sure to succeed. It's a long way down and the water is very very cold, and the currents are swift. So if hitting the water doesn't kill you, you'll be in such shock that the cold and current will finish the job.

Sad but true. If this has crossed your mind, PLEASE talk to someone about it!!!!

Bottom line they want people to know about them. Its a complex they want to be noticed its the finial act

Height....at the center it's 240-250 feet.
The jumper hits the water at about 80 miles an hour.
