I worked for a little guy, and I got laid off 5 weeks ago. I'm what you call a Product Manager/Credit Manager, I have about 7 years experience and love working. I live in New York, on Long Island. Is anyone hiring right now in the mortgage industry?

If you want to stay in the industry, you are going to have to become diverse in your services to match the market. I.e.; work both the sales and funding side of the business. This is the current trend and in order to remain competitive, you need to do it before everyone else!

I am not familiar with the laws in NY regarding RE, but if you can, get your RE licence, mortgage licence (if your state has it) and even learn the title side of the business. Many RE companies are becoming "one stop shops", (mortgage, re-fi, and real estate all under one company) so the more you know, the more valuable you become. And, you can work the sales side of the biz until the mortgage market heats up again.

Real estate workers have networks in place. Have you tried networking with your friends to find an opportunity? That is usually a great place to start.

If you have your income options open, I need you to contact me to share my option with you.
