You can do a DNA test before the baby is born with amniotic fluid, but I'm not sure how far along you need to be.

While you are pregnant a DNA can not be done. You have to wait until the baby is born.

the only way to do one while pregnant is an amniocentisis...most of the time doctors won't perform this because there is a small risk of miscarriage and it's much more expensive than a cheek cell test after the birth.

At least 13 weeks but no later than 20 weeks pregnant. After 20 weeks you have to wait until after birth.

You can do it while you are pregnant, but they will have to perform an amnio. It is much cheaper, and less risky, to do it after the baby is born. There are certain risks you take when subjecting to an amnio, such as bacterial infection & tearing the placenta. After the baby is born they can simply swab its mouth.

As soon as the baby is born. It can't be done while you're pregnant.
I guess I was wrong..lol I just thought they couldn't do it while pregnant because it was way too risky for the baby.
