Why don't you wait to see what kind of pet you are going to get then see what kind of personality it has, sometimes they almost name themselves. Be sure whatever you get to have it spayed or neuter and I hope you will try a breed rescue or human society for your pet and not a pet shop. Pet shops are mostly puppy/kitten mills supplied by uncaring and unscrupulous breeders.

You should name it a person name. That way it feels more like a part of your faimly. I name all my pets people names, so when you're talking to someone about them and they don't know it's your pet, they will think it's like your brother or sister.

Decide on a name when you see the dog or cat. Something will pop into your mind & make you happy & laugh!

Just remember whatever you name it you might be yelling out your door everyday. Something short is easiest. I had a male friend who had to stand on his front porch twice a day and yell "Dumpling!!" at the top of his lungs it was pretty funny.

You can name it because of its color, its size, its personality, its country origin. For instance I raise Chihuahuas and like to use Spanish names for them.
