Classic 69 Camaro, it defined the muscle car era, with its bold curves and defined the dbl striped look that you see today.

70 Buick GS 455
Faster than a viper, vette, ect, in the 1/4 mile
I just watched the fastest car shoot out on sat. TV. The 70 Buick GS 455 beat them all. All the Hemi cars, big block Chevy's, and Fords.
My favorite is the 69 Nascar 429 Mustang, it has power, handleing, and brakeing power. It looks good too!

My family has owned AMC Javelins since the 70's.
I was passed down mine. I love it. Modestly about 400 hp to rear tires. Its pretty much modded yet kept stock in all possible ways.
Stock cars are worth way more than Rods. I replaced the stock 304 with a 360 w/ 401 dual port dog leg exhaust heads, and made sure to keep the original motor intact and clean. I could easily swap it back in. Its about a 12.5 sec quarter mile.
What makes the motor so special is it is a "Short Stroker" meaning the width of the bore exceeds the depth of hte stroke.
It has a TON of torque on the bottom end. Its been 17 years since the rear end was changed, so I cant remember for sure what the gears are, as I was young and building it with my brother, but its the TALLEST possible gear ratio. Somethin between 311-353 on a Dana 44 rear end. 727 torque flight, 2800 stall, edlebrock torker 2 package on hte motor. Still gets the quick quarter and has a 155 top end.
We got a Javelin to actualy run which is better than AMC did... LOL.
These cars are rare, and look so Americanly Exotic.
Mine is a 74 SST black. paint, black leather/ gray diamond pleat fabric.
Its merely taste in original american muscle.
Get what fits you.
I just like my car cause its so rare, and the motor setup is rare, yet dependable, and fast.
I like fast, and sleepers.
It looks muscley and fast, yet most people think since its old school its not as fast as todays cars.
I dont really like to race, but I can get out of town if I need to in a blitz.
Muscle cars are self expression,
they all sound groovy as long as they are clean, and treated as art and not some hotwheels pimpmy ride wanna be thing.
They all kick ***!

Myself, I'm partial to the '69 Plymouth Road Runner Convertible. Preferably in Icefire Blue with a white interior. Oh, and I'll take mine in 440 Six Pack and 4-speed flavor, thank you.
I like them because to me they have the quintessential muscle car look - obviously based on a normal car, but with a touch of added aggressiveness. They have some creature comforts which are nice. And the 440 Six Pack will keep up with a Hemi in the light-to-light battles, while being less finicky, easier to maintain, and with better torque.
BTW, to whoever said Corvettes - Vettes aren't muscle cars, they're sports cars.

It's all personal preference,go to a few car shows and cruise nights and see what strikes your fancy. Just remember parts to hot rod your car are from the cheapest "Chevy's" to the most expensive"mopars". So unless you can find a car that is everything you want as it is then use common sense in your shopping.BEWARE OF SUPER RADICAL CARS or one that look like they were just thrown together as anything like that will require endless working on which is fine if you can do it yourself but if you are constantly shelling out money to keep it running then the fun goes away VERY QUICKLY.

IMHO, the 1969 Dodge Charger Daytona is the ultimate muscle car. Hemi powered, awe inspiring looks, especially with that huge wing on the back! What more could you want?

I like that Trans Am from Smokey and the Bandit.
I guess the best new muscle car is a Corvette.
