In NY state, do you need to have an underwriter certificate (for electrical work primarily) when buying or selling a house? We don't have one in our files from the previous owners. I've tried Googling but no luck.

Why didn't you get any answers to this one? This proves, the crowd comes just to have fun here.

Try out asking this one on relevant blogs. Leave a comment elsewhere if you get one. You may find a very long list of NYC bloggers at http://nycbloggers.com/

Or better search for NY (and the term that best suits your problem) Technorati.com or Blogspot.com. Hope this brings you help in some way.
