Ask someone to hold you accountable or check on your progress. At work this can be a co-worker or boss (If you have a cool boss!) In your personal life it can be a friend, wife, brother, whoever. Knowing that someone will be checking up on your progress on a regular basis will help motivate you to get your stuff done.

Rember that on most things (writing a paper, mowing the lawn, whatever) the hardest part is getting started. Once your body and mind are in motion things get easier. I like the Nike slogan, "Just Do It".

I had a bad habit with my bills.
So got a notebook and this can work for anything. I write down on that payday exactly what has to be paid I do it months in advance that helped. Then I hated cleaning house and I did a card file. It is kind of a game. You have to pick a 2 cards to do like saturday morning. I did 5 but you get the idea. The game is you write down all these things you should do all the time and need to be done. Shuffle them and then put them in order blind so you can't see them like in a recipe box. Now draw from the ones before the divider and you HAVE to do it. Then put it behind the divider until they are all done. My house looked so much better and trained me lessons.
Then I play this other game I have to pick up 10 things before I sit down in front of the computer. Keeps the house looking great. Anyone can do 10 things.

As a current procrastinator, I'm trying to remedy this problem. I started last semester, I started by hanging all my sylabi on my wall, so I'm confronted with the fact that I have homework that needs to get done. I also bought a planner and when I got each syllabus I wrote down each homework assignment so I wouldn't have to write down any homework assignments, just make changes. You just have to work at it, if you find yourself with a spare moment think of something you can do, cleaning up, homework, reading, etc. Make a list of things to do, just try and motivate yourself. It might be hard but being productive is contagious!

You have to become more self motivating. Before going to bed at night make a realistic list of the things you need to accomplish the next day. You could even put the time you are going to do these things, and then learn to follow that list by practice, practice, and practice. You can do it if you set your mind to it. Good luck

Well you're on the right track--you asked the question. Make a daily schedule of things you absolutely need to accomplish. Check them off as you complete them. This will give you a feeling of accomplishment. Stick to the schedule. Good luck!

I think maybe set small goals, write them down on a huge dry erase board and make sure you get the support you need from your family and friends to help you along the way. Try that for a month and if you are ready for big goals repeat!

Most people stop procrastinating by taking responsibility for their action and/or inaction (both require you make the decision because all of us have "free will." )
Every single action or thought you make is by your choice. Nothing can make you do or think anything except by your choice.
