Way to go Zizou! No one has the right to knock someone else's religion! I also think that none of the referees saw it happen. I don't think it's fair to make judgment when there's not suppose to be instant replay used in the game. I'm with you on the REAL WINNERS of the Cup: FRANCE!

It doesn't matter what he said, trying to bait the other players (trash talking) is part of the game. You try and make ppl lose their cool so they do stupid things and you get the advantage. Which is exactly What Marco did! He got to ZZ. ZZ is a professiional and has been for years he knows how the game is played. I'm sure Marco was not the only one throwing insults out there. Saying it's OK because his religion was insulted is stupid! So is it OK if he insults your mother, your haircut, your country.....Where is the line drawn at when its ok and when its not? This is a rhetorical question btw, it's never acceptable...although it does make the game more exciting! LOL

In the 1998 worldcup in France, Zidane received a red card in France's group match against Saudi Arabia for hitting a Saudi player for something he said to him. Do you really believe that a Saudi player would attack Islam?. Probably it is widely known in the players' circles that Zidane is easily provoked, and the Italians used it to effect.

He did he right thing! religion is something tat you dont f*ck with. I agree I believe France would of won! Put yourself in his shoes and if some insulted you inb that way, what would you do? Plus in his myspace page the same thing is being said sort of except there they are saying it was his arab heritage instead of his religion, who knows except the italian guy and zidane. Zidane needs to tell his fans what happen.

yeah, because that website looks really reliable...
and after it sais "L'islam" it ends the phrase with a question mark, meaning that all they are trying to do is get people to read what they write, it doesn't mean Mazeratti insulted islam.. it's only a theory by a french website.
edit: to people who don't speak french: "would it have been because Mazeratti insulted islam?" - it doesn't mean he did, he probably just called Zidane a "cornuto di merda" and he got angry, remember, a lot of emotions run in that field, so anything can spark such actions - like headbutting a player...

What a moron. That cost him millions of dollars. Not only did he let down his team, but what a way to retire from the game, he was not even allowed back on the field to claim the silver. That was arrogant and rude. He could of dealt with it later and would have, maybe help his team possibly win in the penalty shots.
Viva Italia!!

whatever he said, it's not worth it for Zidane to do that, he could have dealt with it in 10 minutes when his career was over already
