Hi there...

Well, the choice is really yours. There are dedicated followings to each and then there are those of us who use both (that'd be me!). This is the best comparison I can provide you with based on all of my personal experience and the facts:

Mac Pros:
1) Solid, Stable Operating System free from Viruses and Spyware
2) They work. Period. If you add hardware into the system, the Mac will recognize it immediately and keep running like the day you got it.
3) A Mac will last forever. I have two systems here that have been going since 1994-1995 and still run like the day they were bought.
4) Easiest Operating System to use
5) Mac owners are extremely friendly and ready to give advice on anything anytime.

Mac Cons:
1) Software can sometimes be hard to find
2) Macs cost a little more if you buy new (although I just bought my Blue & White G3--about 2 generations old, but still very usable--for $35)
3) Unless you live in a big city, repair work can be hard to get done unless you do it yourself (which Mac owners will be more than happy to help you do)
4) Limited hardware upgrade availability---Only certain hardware will work in a Mac and cannot be bought just anywhere, BUT when you get it and install it, it WILL work (unlike a PC where it may or may not work).

PC Pros:
1) Cheap
2) Easy to find software
3) Easy to find hardware and cheaper than a Mac
4) Repair work is easy to get done and usually costs a little less
5) 90% of the world uses Windows

PC Cons:
1) Cheap---And built like it
2) Spyware, Viruses, Malware, Adware, etc.---You get the point
3) Hardware is not built to last (Do you know anyone who collects AND uses 10-15 year old PC's without constant maintenance?)
4) Repairs, repairs and more repairs...
5) 90% of the world uses Windows---This is why it is targeted by the Spyware, Virus, etc. designers out there. You'll use a ton of hard drive space just installing programs designed to catch all of this---And then you'll get it anyway.

So take all the advice you get, think on it, and make the decision as to whether you want to stay PC or make the switch to Mac. By the way, as mentioned above, the Intel-based new Macs will run both the Mac Operating System AND Windows...

Hope this helps.

Happy Computing!

If you are planning on upgrading soon it is well worth it. You can use both Windows and Mac OS on a mac, soon you will be able to run windows programs in Mac OS via a program called Crossover Office and the price on newer macs isn't too bad at all. Apple hardware is some of the best around, and Mac OS is probably the easiest to use Operating System ever made. There are tons of applications for Mac OS for music and writing, you can even get MS Office if you need it. Plus there isn't really a huge virus or spyware threat on Apple computers.

I would go for a Mac.

If you work mostly on music, the software for this on a Mac is less expensive and ProTools is the standard and is only for Mac.

The problem I have always seen is that macs aren't easily upgraded, but this may have been fixed recently. They are definately more expensive than a comprable PC.

I use both PC and Mac. If you like having bells and whistles, meaning you like compatibilty with alot of internet sites, software etc. then stay with PC. If not then switch to Mac, software is alot more expensive.

switch...I use both...the mac doesn't have nearly as much security overhead as windows machines (few viruses and spyware therefore little or no antivirs of anti spyware)...get a new Intel Mac and you can dual-boot windows and Mac OS (OS X)...you'll really enjoy the Mac OS
