I own a new staffing firm, I am trying to put together a sales package, we are surprisingly taking off fast but I would like to see better numbers. My question to hiring managers, owners ect is: What advantage do you see by utilizing a temp, temp to hire or direct hire service though an agency? Anything you want to add would be helpful. Such as, what would be the best way for a staffing firm such as ours to approach you.

Thanks to all

The advantage to a temp agency doing your hiring (other than not needing to give full benefits) is a ready pool of employees. The disadvantage (other than it costs alot) is they do most of the interviewing for you, and they are there to make a profit, so you may not get the best or most qualified employees. You do not get to do the interviewing from start to finish and have things your way. If you are running a staffing firm, meet those needs above. From the start, offer to meet with the HR person that needs the people, do a mock interview so you or your representative gets a feel of what the companies are looking for, and meet their needs. Do not become a large, do nothing temp agency as many have become.

Personally, I think temp services are generally a waste of time.

From someone who has done the whole temp-to-hire thing in college....I saw a lot of really low-class (in terms of mentality) people walking in and out of those doors.

If you're looking for workers of quality, look for workers of quality.
Don't judge on degrees, considering they really don't mean anything anymore amongst the younger generations.

Look for quality of character and work ethic, not paper certifications.

And, just to be honest...the larger majority of people I've met, and worked with through temp agencies are generally self-defeating and in turn, not worth hiring on full-time.

But opinions are opinions, and it really rests with you at the end.

I would study up on topics of self-image, and body-language cues...and then interview accordingly.

Staffing Agencies provide the following:

Interviewing services, background checks, drug screens, benefits and payroll - these are things that save employers money and free up their resources for other important functions.

My name is Lafay and I run a management and consulting company. I'd love to work with you to help turn those numbers around and help you expand your service offerings. Please visit my company website at www.tdwmanagement.com.
