There is a lot of talk concerning Military crimes in Iraq. Where is the same fervor for the insurgents? The ones who drive into a crowded market place and kill scores of people? These people are not US Military, other foriegn military or even Iraqi Police, Army or Security... They are women and children. Getting food or going to school. Unarmed, trying to rebuild their lives. Where are the people trying to find these cowards? Where is the uproar when an aide worker is kidnapped and gets beheaded? Oh yeah, thats a roar of cheers... Lets not forget the Abu Ghrab "Scandal". Oh my, the prisoners were belittled, made to look foolish, embarrased... Lets prosecute those responsible. The only thing those soldiers did wrong was to post pictures on the web. They hurt no one, they killed no one.

Here's an Idea, lets go after the people that are committing crimes. But wait, those people commit suicide in the act of killing innocent people. Isn't this the same suicide that the Gitmo prisioners couldn't possibly have committed since its against Allah's will? Or is it the fact that they only killed themselves and failed to take out a handful of innocent people in the process that makes it wrong?

I truly dislike the idea of the death penalty. However, if the soldiers in question are put on trial and found guilty by a jury of their peers, I’m afraid that they probably will be eligible for death. Judging by the circumstances of the incident, it seems that the crime was premeditated. Even though I dislike the death penalty, if they are found guilty without any reasonable doubt, I feel that the punishment would be justified.

They should be tried by a jury of their peers, like any other person. The penalty should be according to the circumstances and decided by the jury who hears all the details of the case. If we don't know all the facts we can't say whether or not the death penalty should be imposed.

They should be handed over to the Iraqi government.

They should but they won't be. My guess is there is a general fear that punishing law enforcement or military officials might send the wrong signal to others in the force. Apparently, they need more "flexibility" in their "workplace".
