A little of each, I think. I like having the use of the backspace key, the spellchecker, and the opportunity to reflect on the best wording of the answer, but for the most part, it flows pretty freely. Comes from a lot of practice. I am NOT verbally gifted, and I can bungle a conversation hopelessly one-to-one. However, I find I can communicate quite easily if I don't have to be distracted by such things as body language and inflection of the voice...and needing to spit out an immediate answer.
Some questions here on Y! Answers are really very stupid, but there are some that are quite heartfelt. These are questions posed to complete strangers - disembodied souls surfing the net together in a great big ocean of humanity - asking for help about a thing that they, likely, cannot ask anyone off-line. The anonymity brings out the best and worst in people, I think. I like that it's just people talking to one another without the foolishness of discrimination based on peripheral things, like physical handicaps, appearance, sex, age, etc. If you treat others badly here - whether you're royalty or in a wheelchair - expect to be called on it. That's the way it should be. I really like that.
And yes, I hope that my answers help others. Otherwise, it's just a lot of wasted bandwidth, isn't it? :D

Often the germ of the answer will spring to mind immediately once I have read the question in full. Indeed, if a question does not generate a spark in me, then I know that I will have nothing useful to contribute.
Sometimes I can type an answer directly without searching for the right words or the best way to phrase it. That is often the case where a question only requires a short answer. When it needs a longer one, I will often give a short answer and save that and then go back and edit it, adding information and expanding on ideas where I felt I hadn't been as clear as I might have been.
I am always aware of the need to make the answer as clear and concise as possible, to give as much information as is relevant (together with references and links to much more detail) and to be respectful of what I perceive the questioner's intention to be in asking the question.
I always hope that my answer will serve a useful purpose and that the questioner will take the trouble to read it. I suspect that quite a few questions are written without any serious intention of receiving good answers. As an answerer who takes some pride in his answers, I try to avoid those.

we answer a lot of questions every day .i am on 6288 questions,
you scan the questions ,you see one you feel you can answer, and the writing takes far longer than the thinking about it
some questions that i need more time with ,i put on my watch list ,to deal with at a later point in time
if i write a long answer that i feel is good ,with a lot of info,or clever ,or common .i take a copy and keep in a file ,so if a similar question comes up, i use one of those maybe personalize it
,
the bulk of the questions ,are handled quickly on the spot ,just trying to respond as best as possible to the question, i answered in the first place because i felt that i knew the answer,
like this one
in rare cases i go back and add something to previous answered questions if i feel something relevant is missing.
many times, by speaking ones mind, i already know in advance that the questioner will not like my answer, and knowingly blow the ten points
often best answers come as a suprise,

Well when I answer questions on here, sometimes the answer just pops out after I read the question and sometimes depending on the question,I do have to think about it a while before I answer. I try to contribute to the individuals problems,by telling what I have been through or someone I know has been through, but sometimes I speak my mind on what I would do in the situation. I try to be helpful to everyone and hopefully I have been.

The answer usually springs to mind for me but I generally check it over for spelling and grammatical errors and to ensure that the meaning is clear. I hate internet slang like u r, although I do use lol and lmao.
I try to give answers in a meaningful, thoughtful way that contribute to the asker. I do speak my mind if it is a subject I am passionate about or of which I have personal knowledge.

If the question is exciting adequate then my answer likely is purely no longer the same as many of the different solutions. If that is an common question that any you ought to reply to (and a number of different have already got with the right answer), then I purely bypass it by employing. Why hardship? If that is an common question yet the different solutions are incorrect, then i will often times provide the right answer (and be voted down besides, oh properly). If that is a sturdy setup question then I practice one-liners. If that is a dumb question I provide it the dumb answer it benefits. If that is a extreme question i attempt to grant a extreme answer. in certain situations i will study the solutions and rip one or extra of the different solutions. often times I purely have relaxing with it.

For subjects that involves technical expertise or the heart, I will take the time to answer them with thoughtfulness and re-reading my answer so that it wouldn't be too wordy and almost easily understood. This is why I'm guessing I'm never at the top of the response. However, in the Entertainment section I just let the words fly out of my fingers. (^_^)

I find that I just type what comes naturally unless it is a serious question and I feel that what I say might be taken seriously ( for example people with health or family issues) then I find that I sit and think for a while and watch what I type.

To help others find answers to their problems is my target in answering questions in this endeavour. Ideas just flow from mind to address the grievances of others. It is fun to know what questions others have and as compared to myself. You be the judge by knowing why were are here.

Depends on the question as to what type of answer I give, you know the saying "ask a stupid question, get a stupid answer" But if someone asks something intelligent or meaningful then i'll answer it to the best of knowledge
