People like referring something else to another so they could catch the attention of others. Thus, in order to mean what they want, they use metaphors to dramatize what they want and be made a center of attention.

Because they're colorful butterflies, lighting up an otherwise ordinary and boring sentence. LOL
Actually, I think people like to visualize, it adds to the richness of language and meaning, and metaphors help them do that. :-)

I luv 'em, I think the use of metaphors would sweep me off my feet!!! My guy would definitely have to use them.
I also love books that use creative ways of saying simple things.
