I was hoping he would have a good match, but after that head butt i really didnt like him. He got what he deserved, that headbutt was horrible, it cast a shadow on the final match. However, the better team won so all turned out okay. Forza Italia!

I don't really know Zidane, only what the commentators were saying about him, and how shocking it was to see such a "classy player" as him end his career that way.
It was so disheartening, for the game, for the sport, and it must have been quite devastating for the man Zidane.
It looked awfully ugly on replay. I suppose we'll hear sometime what was said by the Italian, what Zidane was thinking or feeling. Having a temper myself, I felt sympathetic. He was tired, sweaty, had just shaken off a shoulder injury that almost took him out of the game, had just missed a goal attempt bythismuch, and had perhaps believed he had just gotten fouled.
He must have been wound incredibly tightly, adrenaline and that fight-or-flight response in full function mode, and he snapped. Maybe there was something in the spirits haunting Die Olympiastadion in Berlin that took hold of him...lonely indeed.
The players all recovered nicely from it, and there didn't seem to be any residual issues coming from either side...
I sorta hope he just gives up the captaincy, apologizes profusely, and maybe continues for another season or something just so he doesn't "go out" on such an awful note.

properly, a minimum of he went out with a bang and by no potential a whimper. and also you're acceptable, he deserved the pink card. Materrazzi did look to have fouled him by employing preserving yet even as Zizou confronted him he had acted possibility free and suggested no longer something (talked about this in replay, and my accuracy is likely questionable) so i wager upsetting is out of the question. Sly trick on Materrazzi's section yet he has no blame.

I dont really agree with that. If you noticed- Zidane was pretty calm through the whole game, even when he was injured, he smiled (even though it [the smile] was fake I think). Materazzi must have really pissed him off to get that. I think Materazzi must have really offended him to get that. I was crying alot after that game, I was really going for france. I think Italia had to many fouls that went unnoticed (probably on purpose) by the ref. France deserved that cup way more. Its sad that all 3 of France's best players went out the last few minutes. I wonder what he said to ZIdane to get that... Just wait till it hits the press.
Oh and I think ZIdane is one of the worlds greatest soccer players. I think its so sad that he left with such a memory....

My heart goes to Zidane. I think he did really well this year.
After the early exit frm 2002. He sure did great to pick himself and his team up to be at the finals of WC2006.
I know Italian are good for their acting. But I didn't know they are so good at their insults too.
It was said after much pulling frm Materazzi that Zidane told him that if he likes his shirt so much, he will give it to him afterwards. But Materazzi end up replying " I rather take the shirt of your wife". U can find it under "Wikipedia", search under Zidane.
And also insult words abt his mother and family.
WC is not just abt winning, its Fair Play and No Racism.
Therefore people, when u are rooting for Italy,
remember.. U ARE IN FOR RACISM.
Yah Forza Italia.. for being such a jerk.

Well if France can't win the World Cup they might as well do something French to end the game.
He could've ended his career very well but he tainted it with a shameful act and a red card........Good job Zidane!
Go Italy!!!

I hated to see him go out like that. Not for him personally, but because it was such a selfish act and possibly cost his team and his country the game. I'm terribly curious what was said to him to provoke that.

I hear you...to end your career on such a note. A glorious career on a shameful note...I was screaming "Forzza Azzura!" but I pity the guy. One terrific player; not the way for him to exit.
