so that you learn some discipline and learn respect.... also, to protect you from the world out there... not everyone is as nice as they claim to be! you need to be protected from them so that you learn later on in life that those are the people you want to be without and you can do the same for your children... you will really figure it out when you have kids of your own!!!

Why are there driving rules? So we're all singing from the same sheet of music. You are taught what behavior is expected and given relevant consequence of misbehaving. I frankly would let you goof up and miss turning in assignments and getting an F, miss school and get detention because you stayed up late, lose your $20 since you left your purse in a restaurant. You learn to be responsible for little thing. When you're older, the big things won't seem so bad.

To help guide them, help them keep out of trouble! My parents had a ton of rules and I'm so glad I didn't have to make those mistakes and get in trouble when I was young. Now that I look back, I'm glad that they made those rules. And I'm good friends with my parents now.
