You should try re-formatting the drive. To do so (you may need administrative privileges for your account):

1. Plug in your memory stick and wait for Windows to detect it.
2. Launch My Computer or Windows Explorer.
3. Right click on the icon for your device and click on "Format" on the menu that pops up.
4. Leave the options on the window that pops up unchanged (and do not check Quick Format), then click on Start.
5. If you are sure that you want to format the drive click on OK on the warning window that comes up and wait for Windows to finish formatting your device.

If there is an error during the format process, it is likely that your device is not working properly and should be thrown away. The format process cannot start if a file on the device is currently open or if the contents of the device are being viewed by another program on the computer.

To avoid damaging files on your device you should always click on the "Safely Remove Hardware" icon (A green arrow and a grey rectangle) in the System Tray (bottom right of the screen) and select the device you want to remove from the menu that pops up. Then, only remove the device if the program tells you that it is safe to do so. If it tells you that it is not currently possible, it is likely that a file on the device is currently open or that a program is currently showing the device's contents.

** Note **
Contrary to what some have suggested (see below), there will be no need/use to defrag the drive after a new format. Defrag does not fix damaged files or sectors on its own (it activates another program when it offers to do so). Its main purpose is to 'defragment' files by bringing less continuously placed sections of files (i.e. file fragments) back together (into single continuous chunks) to make reading them faster. A computer can read a larger continuous section of a disk faster than it can read smaller but more randomly placed sections of the disk.

Hi, You can try a few things, it depends on what Word thinks is wrong with it Try running chkdsk on your memory stick from the command prompt Try copying the file to your HDD and run it from there Try importing the file into Word as a text file rather than opening it. Hope one of these helps

1. You can try to format the drive. I'm assuming this is a USB mini drive. Go to My Computer, right click on "removable disk" in my case it's G: and select "format".

2. You can defrag the disk drive. Once it's formatted you can defrag it to "fix" bad sectors, actually it in a way "blocks" them, so they can no longer be used. Go to start > settings > control panel > performance and maintanance > administrative tools > computer management > disk defragmenter > select your drive, in my case, it's G:, and defrag. If this does not work, the storage device is bad and cannot be recovered. Give me a big thumbs up if this works! :)

How many "bits" is your memory stick at? 16? 32? 64? This is the bits, not the memory size. Sometimes that can be the issue if it's not compatible with your laptop/PC. Try formatting the stick in the FAT32 format.
Hope this helps.

When file is corrupted, that mean that is damage, they are no good, they wont get fix.
What must be happening that you have spy ware in your PC, and this virus is damaging you files, you need yo get your computer clean before it eats up all you files.

sing it taps. I wouldn't use it because there could be a virus on it. If you really want it do a virus scan on the E: drive. Good luck.
