You have access to the internet. There is a lot of stuff to do on the internet. What sorts of things interest you? I spend hours looking at other people's art. I also hang out at places like this, and Essembly, and I belong to Yahoo! groups where there are good discussions, and I have friends I email. There are many other things to do on the internet. Maybe I shouldn't even get you started! :)

I also would play Go online if I had the time. I think there are also chess groups. I listen to music. There are sites where I can download classical midi music, which I love. And you can "go shopping" (but don't spend money you don't have).

Everyone else offered good suggestions for activities off the internet.

I would also suggest that if you are artistically inclined, you might want to find some of the software online that can be used to make art. I like to make digital landscapes and fractal images. I use Terragen, Ultrafractal (which you have to pay for), Apophysis, Xenodream (which you have to pay for), and Chaoscope. You can get together with other people online who make digital art.

Other than that, you can find artistic things to do around the house. Do you have a camera? You can use it to make still life images and things like that.

Do you play a musical instrument? Doodle on it for a change, or play something just for fun.

You can read. Do you have books around the house to read? In the evening, you may be able to go to the library, when it's not so hot.

I can probably come up with a lot more ideas, but maybe this will get you started. Brainstorm! Just think of what you are already interested in, and what you might develop an interest in. Do some searches. There are sites on the internet for just about anything you'd like to learn to do.

Perhaps there is some place near to your home where you could do volunteer work...a pre-school, a nursing home, an animal hospital or just being a "mother's helper". I not telling you to find a job,but just to be helpful in your community. Sometimes,if you do this when you are young, just to give yourself something to do, it can lead to a little job when you are older. other options...read,paint,keep a diary, write some poems, make a picture album with pictures your Mom has around the house ( check out scrapbooking),walk a neighbor's dog, take up running or some other form of physical fitness to make you feel great when you go back to school, help your Mom and have the house nice and clean when she gets home from work, memorize the presidents, and the states, and their capitals, bake, make a scrapbook, learn to knit or crochet (perhaps a neighbor could help you with this), clean your room, drawers and closet . Last of all,ask your Mom if perhaps she could take a day off and the two of you could go some place special. Good luck and have a happy summer.

How about going down to a hospital or hospice (both of which are air-conditioned) and volunteer? Try thinking about someone besides yourself.
