Hi Scott,

My husband the auto mech. says if it sits idle for more than 30 days it will go bad. To avoid this put a stabilizer in it that you can get from an auto store and it will last up to 1 year.

Hope this helps!

Your local and state governments are the first places you should check for standards and regulations on gasoline. There are numerous codes, standards, and regulations that cover storage and handling of gasoline within the United States and Canada.

Gasoline stored in a tightly closed container in a cool place will stay good for at least one year. It is better if the container or gas tank is almost (95%) full. If the container or gas tank will be in the sun or will be heated above 27ºC much of the time, add an aftermarket fuel stabilizer to the gasoline when you first buy it. Gasoline-oil blends for two-stroke cycle engines stored under the proper conditions will keep as well as gasoline itself.

I read "a month" --- doesn't sound right, but that what the report said... I'm sorry I don't remember where I read that. I have some in the garage that I have stored since fall (October) -- still works fine for the purpose.

Not any longer than 6 months and don't keep it in your gas powered equipment between seasons. It's a good idea to use a gas stabilizer if you are going to keep the gas around for awhile

No more than 30 days before it starts to break down. The best way is to drain the system if it is going to be sitting more than a month.
