If the teams had tied after the penalty kicks, what would have been the next step determine the winner? They couldn't leave it at a tie, could they? Thanks.

after the first five players, they go through the rest of the players on the field, after that they have the goalies shoot on one another, then it goies to the people to the bench. and if it's still tied then they start all over

You cannot tie with penalty kicks. That is the whole point of penalty kicks. Keep going until someone wins.

The coach would have to pick 2 other players to kick penalty kicks and hope for a winner then....if not 1 other player each is picked to kick penalty and then winner declared.
NB> a player cannot kick twice!

once the five kicks have been taken if the teams are still drawing it goes to sudden death, in sudden death penalties continue to be taken until a team gets a one goal advantage, so if after penalties its 5-5 the next player on the list will take a penalty if he score and the oppositions next penalty taker misses its game over, victory going to the team whose player scored obviously, i hope that was wrote easy enough to be understood i dont think it was though, anyway there you go and england for euro 08, come on england

They would have to continue with the penalty kicks until someone wins. They can't end in a tie.

after the 1st 5 kickers if tied still they go on to a 6 kicker and from there it's single ilimination... if tied still they go on until one team wins by a point. And say the teams are still tied and all the team members have taken their shot ....the shoot out starts from the first kicker again and so on until on1 team wins by a goal.

they then go and do 5 more kciks, only this time it would have been sudden death, so say italy scored on the first and france missed, then italy wouldve won, no more kicks. they would never ever leave it a tie. but in theory you could go into huindreds of kicks.
