Probably because of all those technological advancements. People don't really have to think about how to do much anymore. Things are automatically done for them. Using, computers, calculators, robotics, etc. No one really has to figure out things anymore. School age people have access to computers, etc and maybe hardly crack open a book. And what happens here also is that many, many people are passed through the school systems that shouldn't be. I think its amazing sometimes.

First of all, stupid and ignorant are two different things. Most people are not stupid, they're average. Secondly, we're all ignorant to some degree. This technologically advanced society has become so complicated and overloaded with information that even the most educated and bright among us are overwhelmed, and are comparatively stupid and ignorant. How is it that you can be ignorant of this obvious fact?

Because technology is an image that business people try to sell us in this century. Who we are and what we're looking for, we can't find those answers in technology. That's why many people don't care about it.

You can see very primitive societies (whether they might be chauvinist or feminist) and they live their lives ratherly mild and quietly. They don't need an advertisement to tell them how to be happier or live their lives.

There is an old saying out there that says: "Why people from past decades had so many children? Because they had no T.V."

Good Question !

Unfortunately technological advancements are independent of Stupidity/Ignorance.

Whatever advancements we make, people will remain ignorant as long as they don't listen. If we shut our eyes off from what is happening, if we think that what ever we are doing is right..it leads to ignorance..it leads to stupidity.

As long as we don't make an introspection of what we are doing, stupidity & ignorance rule.

Hence still we see people stupid & ignorant irrespective what progress we make ..

The current culture is largely mind numbing and repetitive, as well as fast paced and homogenized. There are less differences among people's tastes or opinions about what to listen to or how to present themselves and things move so quickly that people think less and respond impulsively. Many people are driven by the need to "fit in" and follow the pack mentality: read that book, listen to that radio station, play that video game etc. There is less value placed on individual ideas and originality and the public becomes brainwashed into blandness and idiocy.

Just because there are rocket scientists and neuro-surgeons doesn't mean everybody is one. Also I think ignorance is cured by cultural advancement.

Because it only takes one or two smarties (so to speak) to advance technology.

No one who is ignorant thinks that THEY themselves are ignorant. They judge everyone else as being ignorant.
