Don't even get me started. I don't think they make fun of white, but they create racism for themselves. They get on there and talk about how mean whites STILL treat them, and how black actors/actresses got the lousy part. First of all, they were actors!! At least they got to Hollywood!! And second, look at all the people that got great parts!! Tootie, Fresh Prince of Bell Air, ect. I am just sick of they're whinning. If they want to be called "African Americans", then stop whinning about the African part, and be a real American and realize that everybody is equal?! Gah. No I'm not racist, it's just the people on t.v. tick me off.

Lots of the problem is caused by people who are so willing to take offense. The essence of true humor is to be able to laugh at ourselves. As long as the humor is not mean, i don't see anything wrong with any group poking fun at another. You want a real revelation - go to Salvation Army and find an album by a stand-up comedian from the '50s or '60s. People had lots more tolerance back then. They could laugh at something because it was funny, without worrying about whether it was proper to laugh, which just saps the fun out of laughing. It is agonizing to watch the pale forced falsity of "politically correct" comedy.

I'm white, it is OK with me. I guess maybe I figure whites never had to take the persecution from blacks that they did from us, so it's normal that we wouldn't be as sensitive about getting made fun of. Heck, as barriers are dropping, there's more humor like that, D. Chappelle is hilarious, maybe we can all relax and have some fun together, instead of all the racial tension there has always been in this country. I think with the racial history here, we can afford to be the butt of some jokes. It's the least we can do. Chill out.

It's not right for anyone to make fun of someone because of skin color or their nationality.
Also, I would like information on who and when it occurred that whites were making fun of blacks and it NOT be a black show. I seem to find the ignorant whites only on shows such as The Cosby Show, Family Matters, and That's So Raven.
On the same side, I don't think the color of your skin should determine anything like what college you can attend, what job you get, who you associate with, etc....

You are exactly right. But I think the difference is that blacks are supposed to havea history, a culture, where whites don't.
I remember hearing about a court trial one time where there was some type of club or something (like girl scouts) but only for one particular type of person.(and I don't remember which one) Whites tried to do the same
and lost! The judge ruled that the other party had a history; a culture and were allowed to have their private organizaiton.

Because whites are the ones who taught everyone they were diffrent based on color. You don't hear whites saying I'm white american. They are just simply american. Everyone else has to be catergorized by their race. People of other races have to say well i'm Mexican American, African American, etc. I never here a white person stating oh yes I'm Irish American, dutch american, british american, etc. I haven't seen it listed under race seprately from white either.
I've seen some of these same comedians make fun of themselves and blacks. So now what?
Some of you missed the message. I never said I disliked being called African American. I was simply stating that every other race of people are called what nationality they are before being American. When Whites are not. We are all people and why should we be divided by our nationalities when we are all american.

Racism is inevitable when it is not considered taboo. Blacks make fun of whites on TV because they take the opportunity to get back at them on the boob tube which is also being done to them. In order to get rid of this racism, each of us no matter what the color, is to respect each other and treat individually as equals.

From that show "in living color", they made it ok to do that. It doesn't make it right though and the funny thing is - when whites make fun of us, we call them every name in the book. Even if it's considered "fun" it's not funny. I'm black and it's not ok to me.

seriously. why are the whites all called racist when the blacks hate us just as much??? and at school, everyone talks about "oh, i was best friends with a black person" and "you should make an african-american friend" when they hate us and we don't hate them? (and i'm sorry to all african americans that aren't like that... i have some really good friends that are, but when people call me racist, i get MAD.)
