You should always see your doctor for medical advice. If you have a medical question, the answers given here are usually others experiences, don't use any advice before consulting your doctor.

People do mean well when answering these questions, but you cannot trust any of them because you don't know if you're talking to a doctor or a 10 year old.
It isn't safe for the idiots who base their medical care to what us idiots tell them. Sorry to say but that's their fault for being dumb and doing dumb things like believing these answers.
When I do answer a health question, I usually comment on my personal experience with the problem and that's it.

The only time I give medical advice is after researching the web. After being an RN for many years, I still don't feel comfortable without checking the facts.

You are seeing a lot of opinions.. not necessarily accurate in their definitions of a problem. Also, depends on your faith in your doctor.. noting that only 10% of any profession are really proficient in what they do.
Further one must consider that the US has been placed in the 25th spot as far as medical care... in all the industrialized countries. Makes one wonder a bit about what we are faced with as far as competency.

You are absolutely right, but what is more dangerous is for an ignorant person to actually follow erroneous medical advice. So, I guess maybe they should delete the category all together.

Caveat Emptor -- Let The Buyer Beware!
It applies here too, even though the advice is free, and often times worth every penny. Strike that, every cent.

I would hope that any advice on here would be checked with a dr. Sometimes talking it over on here, makes it easier to tell a dr. the problem.
