The best way is to download Ccleaner here http://bitly.com/UrALrK

Or you can go on Windows operating system locate the command prompt and go there to do the following:
Create a Recovery file of system and date it today.

Then begin by;
delete the 'Temp' folders..they have hidden subfolders so you need to set the attributes in order to bypass this. For each subfolder delete all cookies and rubbish left behnd after install-uninstalled programs. Do a 'dir' command to check your progress. Make sure the 'Temp' file is empty.

goto c:\windows\prefetch and delete everything in there..no exceptions

goto c:\windows folder and delete all the '$' files that have been installed by updates. They can all be succesfully deleted and just take up disk space.

Locate the Internet Temporary Files..Check to see how high the saving level is..some have it set at 30 days..but that stores faaaar tooo much data..though it slows down the system overal. Keep this to a minimum..suggest 2 or 5 at most.

Delete all 'cookies' all those you don't need.

Locate the windows directory and go through the folders you know and those you don't need. Check this once a week at least. Some programs will install under XP as NT and older systems where there is no check of systems weight.

Check to see that system files have not changed since last booting. Things like .ini files or .bat are important items.

Check for 'Hidden Directories' all over the disk...do this at the command prompt:

dir *.* /ah wil show these hidden directories

Check the 'dir' command for all parameters

Try to close some of the programs that automatic opens when you turn on the computer. Maybe go to add and delete for some software you don't even use.

But tip on closing programs: used "ctrl + alt + delete
the window task manager should open. Check which programs there you don't need and close them.

And to delete from Add and Delete,:
Go to start: Control Panel, then Add or Remove Programs.
then there try to see what programs you don't need, but you have to be very careful you don't delete nothing that might make you PC work differently. Some programs you might not recognize, so have someone expert to help you.

Good Luck

you havnt said if you have dial up or high speed internet service . so if you have dial up maybe upgrading to high speed might make a big difference for you . otherwise make sure you use your disk cleanup and disk defragmenter , which will sometimes help quite alot as far as speed. also uninstall any programs that you do not use , which will also help with the cleanup and defragmenting . make sure you are clearing out your temporary files and cookies, which once a week is actually good practice . make sure you are using a virus and spyware program on a regular basis . viruses or spyware can also slow you up .

If you haven't done a defragmentation lately, I'd try that. It might take a while to do but after it's done, you will recognize a difference.

Go to Accessories in your program list, then System Tools, then Disk Defragmenter. Click on the button to analyze your hard disk. It will tell you if the PC needs to be defragmented or not.

If it does you will probably see alot of red in the color pictorial of your hard disk. Without getting really technical, that shows that certain files on your PC are not where they should be and they need to be moved to a better place to give the PC better performance..

okay. firs of all, makes sure you dont have any spyware or adware running on your pc.if you do get a remover for that kinda ****. if you are running on Windows Xp or Windows Me, you can click start, run.then type in MSCONFIG. that should give you a little menu. that little menu is what disable or enables files, programs, vxd to load when you start up your compter. click on the start up tab to your right. and disable the ones you dont want. if none are needed disable all. apply the settings, then restart your pc.that should do the trick. next time your start up, it should be faster..;) by the way Windows Sucks. LINUX THE FUTURE!

Go to "start".."run"..type in msconfig then click on "startup"..uncheck anything slowing your system down then click on "Services" and do the same...then you'll have to reboot...when system reboots it will prompt you about the changes you made...just check the box on the bottom left side saying..."don't show this message again"

That should solve your problem...Good luck
