First off, I may sound like a freak but we have been visited by extraterrestrials, And second off it dependss on what spieces it is some are good and some are evil.
( P.S I know I'm a freak)

Both. Here's what I think: "Extraterrestrials" like we see in the tabloids are actually our own species as they evolved from millenia of living underground (probably due to nuclear fallout from an upcoming world war). When they visit, it will be an attempt to stop that war from happening... Or maybe that's just part of a sci-fi story I wrote a few years ago...

Have you ever seen the movie "The Day The Earth Stood Still". I think we'll shoot first and ask questions later. Because we won't understand their intent or reason for visitation we will respond with distrust and that may/might result in their being foe. Of course they'll have knowledge that they can squish us like ants and despite our stupid actions against them they may/might be benevolent and peaceful despite our vile reaction to their presence.

These so called aliens are not our friends . We are basically objects of their amusement. Nothing more. They come and go as they please, scare the **** out of selected human specimens with their big black shiny eyes and rectal probes and then disappear into the dark. After the way they have treated us all these years I would hardly call them friends! Untill we solve all our worldly afflictions and gain a higher intelligence we deserve nothing better than too be treated as an amusement! Personally I think they have a plan for us but I am buggered if I know what it is?

Most likely, any beings who are intelligent enough to have developed the technology to cross space to get here will also be intelligent enough to have risen above our 'friend or foe' thinking.
