Its like saying “well we can’t find Natalie Holloway, so she must never have been in Aruba.” Here is a concept, PEOPLE MOVED OR HID THEM!! Yes, some intelligence was false (as would be expected) but plenty was not.
Oh and, I’m sorry. Explain just how the government benefits from the war. Spare me the Oil greed thing!! If we were after more oil, we would just drill in Alaska.

I must now save face. I am fully aware of the media being lost in la-la land, and I don't trust them past the time of day.
I only asked the question to poke at those who buy the media's breathless atempts to smother the valid justification for this war. Ahemm...Capt?

There were WMDs in Iraq that were found, its just that the media refuses to report it....and don't make a big deal about it like everything else. I'm in Iraq now....and what a lot of people don't realize is that a WMD can be the size of a cigarette lighter......not some big bomb or something like that.......but since we're on the subject of that.....a huge pile was discovered just a couple of weeks ago, that contained saren and mustard gas....there was little airplay on this...........that is big time WMDs.

Wow! Aweome Argument. But I heard that the United States could find no traces- (I'm assuming they have something like a metal detector only for chemicals) but then some of the neigboring countries have said that Sadaam DID have them.
Then I read an aritcle in my local paper (this was BEFORE the trial) that Sadaam was going to be charged with using chemical weapons and I'm thinking (at the time) "I thought he didn't have any!" I don't know. I'm confused about that.
Actaully the only good that has come from the war is that Sadamm is out and now the people can govern themselves.
I think we should get out and let them do just that. After all, they have to stand on their own 2 feet sometime?

Actually more than 500 WMDs have been found in Iraq since 2003. This fact was released a few weeks ago (see: http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,2004... and http://www.mediaresearch.org/press/2006/... and http://www.cnsnews.com/viewnation.asp?pa... ) You just don't know this because the liberal media has ignored the story. How sad is that?
All of the WMDs that were found were gas artillery shells made prior to the Gulf War. Although all of these weapons were in shells that were no longer capable of being fired the gasses inside them would have still worked if transferred to newer munitions. They were buried and hidden by Saddam in full violation of the Gulf War cease fire agreement.

You are being simplistic. EXTREME searches have been done not only by the US both a WHOLE lot of other people as well. There not only are none found but no trace of them ever existing. If you want to campaign an issue I believe this is a looseing effort. No rational mind in the world now beleives Iraq had WMDs.....DUUUUhhhHH

Amen about the 'Alaska" statement! My brother was in Iraque ,and he said that there were WOMD over there. The company saw them. Plus ,here is a thought....Why else would some of our men and women have come back from there with ailments that they did not have before? I also heard the news media say...back in '93(?) that WOMD had been found ,as well as this year. I don't know why they changed their story. Someone must've shut them up after that ,I guess.

The burden of proof rests on the side asserting their existence. It would be more akin to saying "There are unicorns all around us, even though we don't see any of them!" or "Well, we haven't found any unicorns after all this searching, so perhaps there really aren't any."
As for how the government benefits from the war, I really don't think there is one in the long term, for *either* the American people or its government; how this should be an argument in *favour* of the invasion, I know not.

No one ever said there were never WMD is IRAQ, heck we saw Saddam use them in the 80ies. He may have even got them from the US to begin with. What they are saying is there were no WMD at the time the Bush administration decided to turn the US into an Invading force for the first time in history.

i have no idea. They have found shell's with sarin in them. They also have satellite photo's of a large facility taken before we went in. Then another phot 3 mo. later the whole facility is gone. There is speculation it was moved to Syria. Who knows.
The way we benefit is by having a democracy in the region. If more countries let their people vote it would be allot better than it is now.

the problem is the media. the fact is that verry recently some 300 artillery shells filled with poison gas was found...the only reason you didn't hear about it was because the liberal media doesn't want you to. they want to spend all there time whining about bush. they dont cover the important things.
they dont want to admit that they were wrong after saying there werent anny. the media doesnt care about us or what we need to know, they just care about what will sell papers.
now....dont even get me started on there lack of reporting on things like Paul R. Smith and the other heroes
Gosh

There certainly were WMD's in Iraq in the 1980's/90's. But I think the question was were their any when the decision was made to go to war. According to Hans Blix, who was asked to investigate this question, said the answer was "no". . .and after the invasion, his answer proved to be correct.
