The worst thing I ever had happen was when delivering my son his shoulders got stuck from a disorder known as shoulder dystocia and the doc told me if I did not push they where not going to take him c-section so I ended up ripping from one end to the other. OUCH. Never again. ((And After I was done with this doctor he had his delivery license taken away so he can not do this to anyone else. Thank god))

nothing as an adult because being a 17+ year veteran RN, I understand everything, but when I was 5 years old & in for my preschool vaccinations, I was hysterical scared climbing the walls, & instead of talking me down & giving me some time, the nurse physically attacked me holding me down...I'm sure if a 5 year old could've had a stroke or heart attack, I would've had one. It was one of the most frightening things I've ever been through in my life.

After I've been waiting for more than an hour for the doctor's arrival, they told me, that he will not be here for the day.

So I left and later found out the doctor has come just after I left.

Luckily I was not sick that day...

A lumbar puncture (aka "spinal tap"). I ached for weeks!!!!
To not scare anyone, let me add that I've had the same procedure other times and it's no big deal. Just this one instance, the doctor couldn't hit the right spot and kept trying over and over again--grrrrrrr. He's lucky I didn't bite him!

I was having my blood drawn and the dumb lady could not find the vein and she jabbed my arm anyway and must've hit the nerve. My hand was sweating, tears were streaming down my cheeks and my fingers were twitching quite badly. I told the woman to pull the needle out and she kept sticking it in further and further. I had a huge bruise on my arm and a numb hand after that. Needless to say, I didn't see her after that.

When I was younger and the doctors thought I had strep throat, they held me down when giving me a throat culture b/c I found it quite uncomfortable. I still have trouble getting throat cultures because of that experience.

I had a goiter removed this past March. In February, the specialist took a needle and drew fluid out of it. It was scary.

wow! Anne-i'm sorry...that's horrible.

when i was about 7, i busted open my lower lip, right in the middle. the doctor told my parents that giving me a shot to numb it would hurt worse than the actual stitches. (liar)...so, my mom, dad and a nurse all had to hold me down while i kicked and screamed and got 5 stitches in my lip WITH NO PAINKILLERS! i was in agony. imagine sticking a needle straight through your lip a few times. my dad was so mad that he had to leave the room. he later said that he wanted to punch the doctor for making me go through that. it sucked.

Said, "Oh, my ... I'd better let the doctor talk to you about this."
I spent the most nervous half hour of my life waiting for the doctor to tell me it was "Okay." I think I aged about five years.

barium enema : they use a plug......as big as a flash light.....with a BALLOON on the end to keep it from "popping" out! THEN....oh yes, there's more.....they get a gallon of this white plaster of paris looking stuff and fill your bowels with it...so much so that you think your gonna pop!......THEN.....they make you roll around while they take pictures!!....THEN....they remove some(not all) of the white stuff...pull the plug....and send you down the hall in your gown with the remainder of the white stuff screaming to get out-but you have to hold it till you get to the toilet-where you have to finish the job of eliminating the white stuff from your colon!
