Does it really matter? No one knows, and the French aren't telling....not yet anyway. But no matter what was said, Zidane is an adult, playing a game for his country in front of the entire world. He's old enough, and man enough to take whatever is said with a grain of salt and let it slide off like water down a duck's back. If he can't do that, then he really has no business in the sport. It was most unsportsmanlike behavior I've ever seen in a match! He's not a player I'd allow my children to idolize....and before anyone gets upset....I'm a Man Utd fan, and Rooney's temper is just as bad at times. But he's young too, and learning to control your temper comes with age.

Zidane should have held his in check...but with retiring after this World Cup...maybe he just didn't care anymore. At least everyone will remember his exit......he certainly went off the field quite "loudly"!

No idea...but there was real anger in him. I think it had something to do with the fact the Materazzi held Zidane, preventing him from moving just before that? What a terrible way for Zidane to leave!

Haha... Italy will be stripped of the title when the facts come out!!!! He said something like

"go back to Africa, you don't belong to Europe". Very few people know that Zidane has African

background but he has! He responded spontenously without thinking of the consequences because he

is NOT used to receiving racial slurrs.... he really looks white!

The Italian goalkeeper actually said something to that effect to Thierry Henry PRIOR to this

incident (holding Henry around the shoulder to make sure he hears), but Henry just replied "****

YOU!" without taking any physical action. Henry is noticably black so he is used to this as a

professional player, and he responded appropriately.

Notice that when the Zidane case happened it was the Italian goalkeeper who allerted the referee.

This tells you it was a pre-planned and pre-meditated phsycological and racial tactics that the

Italians used against the French to expell a French player and consequently win this

Championship. FIFA is fighting a fierce battle right now against racism in football so I'm

absolutely convinced that when the facts come out, Italy will be stripped of the title!

Finally, this should be a lesson to African players. If they ever want to win this cup they

should be prepared to receive racial slurrs on the field without taking physical action.

Some said that Materazzi appeared to pinch and twist Zidannes nipple as he let go of him in the penalty area, Zidannes first reaction was shock and when he realised what had happened I think he lost his temper. Watch the replay carefully he twisted his hand as he let go.

Other said that the Italian twisted Zidane's shirt and pinched it. which symbolized a pigs ear which is one of the worst insults to muslims, who think of pigs as the absolute dirtiest nastiest things on the earth. most muslims would kill the insulter if that happened!

He was obviously frustrated and whatever it was that Materazzi said to him, put him over the top. It was very poor sportsmanship and a sad way for him to have ended his career as he will be remembered by that final behavior of arrogance.
