Blame our education system, parenting, lack of education of the individual. It has always amazed me since the advent of the world wide web how so many spelling/grammar challenged folks there are in the world. The can afford a computer, but have no interest in putting the effort into speaking or writing our National Language in America. With no intent meant to hurt anyone intentionally I truly believe it is pure and simple ignorance on the part of the spelling/grammar impaired. Good question, perhaps you will change one person by asking it.

I'll I can say is it's annoying! The Internet/text massage short hand has gone overboard.. It's on thing to use the occasional LOL or BRB. But what i read half the time makes no sense.
Half the time if people try to start a conversation with me and they can't write one full sentence I won't talk. And it's amazing those same people can only usually come back with curse words.
I don't think that blaming it all on stupid Americans or whatever someone wrote is extremely over zealous. It's not just Americans. It's teenagers, It's people who's first language isn't English, It's anyone who thinks it's cool or trendy.
I think eventually when they can't get a job above one with there name on there shirts they might want to consult how they filled out there application.

No it isn't proper. I not in any respect provide all of us a best answer in the adventure that they have got adverse spelling by using ways. people do it from time to time on twist of destiny, I continually "forgive" accidentals. many faculties do tutor ideal spelling that's fullyyt that grammar receives intermingled with "chat communicate". English is truly a lot a casual language with the aid of our subculture on the on the spot. communicate with any English instructor and also you'll listen the memories of woe about the atrocious spelling and grammar that they might want to determine.

This is a reflection of the school systems. We are mass producing semi-illiterate individuals.
In the case of poor grammar in here? I would think it is more ignorance than laziness.
I mean, how much effort does it take to click on "check spelling"?

There are a lot of reasons, I think. Some people here are not native-English speakers; there are questions and answers from all over the world. Others are young kids and teens who like to use the shorthand of instant messaging and text messaging -- I think for its supposed efficiency and to distinguish themselves from more literate adults. And some are just lazy, stupid, and/or ignorant.

The ones you see tYpIn LyK dIs are probably no older than 12-13, I used to type like that all the time when I was that age because it was the cool thing to do! haha, even though that way takes much longer than just typing normally.

I am assuming it is because they are lazy or that it is just accepted on the internet more readily than anywhere else. But, as a teacher, it drives me nuts.

The internet uses a new, developing language. It is as far from American english as American english is from real English.
