He doesn't know much about the budget at all. He bought his way into political office probably to boost up his own ego. During the campaign he made all sorts of promises relative to the budget and once he got elected found out there was nothing he could do because most of the budget is legally mandated expenses to be paid and there is nothing that can be cut. So in the manner of all politicians he goes for an incease in the sales tax, which is pure baloney.
Whenver politicans get more money from the taxpayers it NEVER goes to pay down debts or current budget items...NEVER. It ALWAYS is taken up by new spending they enact to use up the increase. Instead of a sales tax increase on the backs of taxpayers, ALL the legislators in the state of New Jersey should take a pay cut to add up in total to the amount of their shortfall. After all, they made bad decisions and bad choices and did their jobs badly so why should they boost the sales tax and then give themselves a pay raise? BAD BAD BAD.
They should all be fired.
And Jon Corzine has NO CLUE about money problems that taxpayers have. When the people vote for a filthy rich politician they should expect this sort of thing.

John Corzine became a rich man because he built and ran a successful company--with balanced budget. Of course, he should care about a balanced State budget, as he insisted on it as company president.

so what if he is the richest man, that has nothing to do with the states money, which has run out. and like the other girl said, its his job to worry about the states money, its his job. how do you think the statesmen get paid, their paychecks just don't just out of thin air, he uses the money to pay them, and hopefully they earn by doing their job.
