Hypotension is the medical term for low blood pressure (below 90/60). This occurs when the pressure on the blood vessel walls falls below normal limits. Low blood pressure that does not cause symptoms is generally considered to be a sign of good cardiovascular health because there is less stress on the heart and blood vessels.

However, there are a number of forms of low blood pressure that require diagnosis, evaluation and treatment. People may seek treatment for low blood pressure if they experience symptoms such as dizziness or syncope (fainting) from lack of oxygen to the brain. Low blood pressure may be due to medications (e.g., blood pressure medications) or other causes, and changing medications or other treatments may be necessary.

It depends. This could be a normal pressure for her. Some people have a systolic BP in the 80's and 90's and that's their norm. Do you know what she normally runs? Some medications could cause her BP to be lower too. If she was sitting or lying down and quickly stood up or sat up she can experience a thing called orthostatic hypotension which makes the BP drop also. If that is is the case she should lie down for a while and always get up slowly. How is your grandma feeling? Is she nauseous or dizzy? You should check her BP again in 10 - 15 min and she if its higher or lower.
I think it would be a really good idea to contact her physician. Let he/she know of the incident. Her doctor may want to adjust meds or do some blood work on her.
Hope she is well.

3 years ago, I was diagnosed - hypertension with a reading of 160/100. I used to feel dizzy a lot, my legs had awful cramps, and levels were very low in my potassium, causing my fingers and toes to always cramp together. One day I started to feel really faint while I was driving with my daughter in the back seat and I passed out, hitting 3 cars and ending up in a ditch. That moment,I knew I had to do something because my meds weren't working. I heard about this diet from a friend and thought I'd give it a shot. The results have been remarkable. In just 21 days, I honestly can't remember feeling this good, my blood pressure went from 175/110 to 125/70.

Yes - it's way too low!!! Given her age though -- I don't know what it could be. Mine dropped really low like that and I was about passing out, etc. (medication change with BP medicine) -- as the last time I checked mine it was 198/118 which is extremely high and dangerous. Am on medication again thank goodness!! I also had an infection when mine was that low and ended up in the hospital because of it and corrected the problem.

Actually it is a little on the low side. Why don't you ask her Doctor? What a Doctor would consider a good pressure reading is around 110/72. At your grandmothers age you could not expect her to have that kind of a reading.

Low blood pressure is not a good sign. Anything much lower than 120/80 should be a cause for concern. If grandma has a family doctor, he should be made aware of this right away. Or grandma should see a doctor soon.

King Charles Cavalier I've got 2, and they are very energetic when you take them to the park. When you're inside they are just plain lazy and will just go to sleep straight on your lap. Cavaliers are very easy to train and quite obedient if shown the correct way to behave, but you must always remain the dominant person and show them that you are the alfa-male(/female). Type King Charles Cavalier in google images and then try to tell me you don't want one! These are the most loving and effectionate dogs you will ever see!

That is pretty low. Does she have medication to stabilize her blood pressure? If not you can let her have some caffeine and that should help bring it back up. Normal blood pressure is 120/80

well it does seem a little low, but if she's tiny it's probably ok. not everyone has 120 / 80. some people naturally have higher, some lower.
