It seems like everynight when I fall asleep I wake up at about 5 am with one or both of my hands totally asleep. Should I be worried?

You should be asking you OB/Gyn this question and not posting it in a forum like this. Take any questions you have to your doctor. Please don't risk your health or your baby's!

This is called NEUROPATHY and is in the early stages (tingling). Are you bending your wrists alot during the day, do you have a job where you do a lot of repitition (such as typing) or making the same thing over and over? These are most likey the usual causes of this which is usually the precursor of Carpal Tunnel Syndrome.

However, it can also be the first sign of such things as diabetes, so do the smart thing and see an OBY/GYN and good luck.

Sounds like carpal tunnel. This is a normal condition during pregnancy. The space in your wrist is compressed with extra fluid. Doctor might recommend wearing wrist braces at night to help keep your wrist in the proper position. This will usually disappear after delivery.

Your body is producing more blood for your baby meaning you dont get all what you need. At times thats why we sometimes get headaches, dizzness, blind vision for a few seconds. Our brain isnt get enough blood flow to it because once its produced our bodies carry it to the baby. It sounds like a decrease circulation of blood. You should try pumping your fist when that happens(open your fist and close it a few times). You can also talk to your doctor about other methods you can do or what are some of the ways you should sleep. My doctor told me its best to sleep on your left side because it gives the baby more oxygen and you get more blood flow to your brain.

do you sleep on your hands?
Oh, dr.s don't know everything! I had a doctor tell me i would fine being 10 days over due and i had a 10 1/2 lb baby!! Ask a nurse. :)
my hips would fall asleep and it the nurse said it was just the baby pressing on my nerves. BUT doctors aren't dumb, they just don't know everything! nurses know completely different patient care, well, i just like getting nurses opinons on things like that. :)
Post away girl!

You shouldn't be worried. When you are pregnant your circulation will not be as good. Especially in the first few months when your body is in overdrive to help the baby develop. So, no worries and good luck!

It is probably circulation. I would excercise or walk more. Ask your doc though just to be safe. GOOD LUCK!!
