Now, for forty-seven months, we'll be free from that stupid nationalism that comes along with international football. Nobody will believe they rock just because eleven guys from their country kicked a ball more times than eleven guys from another country into their goal. Or that they suck, if they did it fewer times. And we'll finally spend time in what REALLY matters! Aren't you happy, too?

While I disagree (I love the World Cup--and I'm from the US, so it's definitely not because I get a nationalistic kick out of it!), I would like to ask if we ever spend these 47 intervening months between World Cups focusing on what really matters? Just seems like something always gets in the way...

At least soccer isn't in my face every damn time I turn the T.V. on. Like football, or basketball, or baseball, golf, tennis, Nascar. Those are the sports that really get on my nerves because I can't flip through the T.V. once without seeing it.
I wish soccer were on more often. I just wish the U.S. hadn't sucked so much this World Cup.

yes im especially happy all the once-every-four-year-fans who give up allegiance to the U.S. (because our team sucks) and start rooting for their heritage country losers remember where they really come from!
