Try just applying some diluted bleach or something like "simple green", and letting it stand for a while. Then just mop it up.

Once youve done this to the point that youre happy with it, paint a clear coat of skid proof clear paint or other clear coat on the linoleum just in case its absorbing dirt at a faster rate than you think, from being worn down.

I used to work for a janitorial service. The best product we used for this was all-purpose cleaner from the janitorial supply store. They sell the concentrated stuff, not the pansy cleaner sold in public markets. The concentrated cleaner is mean enough to strip wax, if mixed strong enough. If that won't pull it off, nothing will. Be sure to mix strong, and let it set on the floor thick. Allow it to set for a time, at least 15 minutes. Don't let it dry out, add more if it tries to. The cleaner should do all the work for you, lifting everything except tile. Hopefully it won't lift the tile adhesive too. Good luck.

"lozzielaws"....Get a bucket of very hot water,a floor-cloth, a BAR of Washing soap, and a SCRUBBING BRUSH. then Fill the bucket with the hot water;get on your knees and wash the floor, first with the floor cloth;then, dip the scrubbing brush in the water, rub the soap all over it.Start scrubbing [in a cirular movement just a patch at a time] then using the rinsed-out wet cloth, wipe-over the patch, at least twice, rinsing out your cloth each time. then leave to dry. Repeat this performance until all the floor is scrubbed and rinsed clean. It's hard-work but really worth it.

IT'S DAMN GOOD EXERCISE TOO!! I wish I could still do it,for I really enjoyed doing it. Our Mothers did it every time the floors needed cleaning. (It was the ONLY thing I liked about housework...the rest I absolutely HATED!!! And Still Do!!

I own a cleaning service and there a couple ways to handle this. One if you really need to strip and clean use ammonia and water. WARNING make sure you have ventaliation! The way I do it using Magic Erasers (I use off brand) with an all purpose cleaner. Spray let it soak then scrub a little.

My husband and I owned our own cleaning service and on really bad tile or linoleum floors we always used two cups of ammonia to a bucket of water. Mop well. and Rinse well.
Be sure to rinse well or your floors will be sticky.

my linoleum is white with some tan in it...once a month i add a small amount of bleach to the water and it brightens it up nicely..depends on your color...try a small spot somewhere first ..a place you don't really see..
