I am not happy at all. I am sad that Zidane finished his wonderful career in the French National Team with a red card. But he was provoked by Metarazzi.
I read from another forum that the Italian Materazzi appeared to pinch and twist Zidannes nipple as he let go of him in the penalty area, Zidannes first reaction was shock and when he realised what had happened I think he lost his temper. Watch the replay carefully he twisted his hand as he let go.

I think it was bad and sad. Bad, because a player of his caliber should not do things like that knowing that milions are watching and that he is role model for many young people and Sad because such a prominent career had to end with an expulsion fron the field in the final game of a worl cup while he was representing his country. He left the field and ended his career in a very sad note.

It is sad that a player of his caliber had to end his career of many years with a red card. Words are exchanges all the time in sports and he was the captain of the French team. It was too bad but the best team did win. I could never cheer for the French or buy anything French. Their team was just okay.

I must admit , that was one of the best take downs I have ever seen in my life, he looked like a Ram!!Poor guy though not a good way to end his international career and I do think France had a much better chance with Zedane kicking PK's. Oh well, stuff happens. Italia esta champions!!

I doubt many people will be.
He should have taken what the Italian player said in stride and left him be, but he had to retaliate and get sent off. Now I'm indifferent to both squads in this game, but I think it was a shameful act, and a classless way to end one's career.

Not happy - somewhat disappointed. It may have been justified by it was a high price to pay for his team and personally for him on the heels of a brilliant international career.
