I am so dissapointed - ZZ should know better than than. He is an older player and should be more disciplined. He knows he couldnt get away with that, why the hell could he not control his temper? He killed the moral on his side and surely he didnt want to be remembered like that, seeing as he said this is his last game...

Zidane- has his own song, a player with charisma, was supposed to get 'The golden ball' award, supposed to have a movie made after him --and now??? So sad how life has a way that 1 moment can change your whole life. I want to believe that there are 2nd chances, but I just don't know what to think now. When France won against Portugal, all of them were jumping around like lunatics, thrusting around probably worse than Shakira!- but Zidane, such a gentleman to the end, stood his ground, smiling, hugging people. I am so SAD for Zinedine Zidane. Materazi must have insulted him o/wise he would not have reacted so strongly knowing it is going to he his last game infront of his country. It must be something so OFFENSIVE. What I don't understand is why the referee for ONCE decided to consult a fourth official (outside the pitch) when at other times (e.g. the second penalty kick which France so deserved) he had decided not to consult for their opinion. Again, to put an Argentinian referee in this game is a bit suspicious on the part of FIFA.

Legionare345: No one can say that the French team did not deserve to be at the final. We had to beat Spain, Brazil and Portugal to come this far. They had better possession of the ball in the second half. You beat the France in a penalty shoot which Buffon had nothing to do with it. The ball of Trezequet hit the bar and bounced on the line. Italy was simply lucky but the France on the whole played a better game!!!!!!

are you kidding me jest21. wow thats a bunch of crap.
how did the italians fake it. no one but himself made him thrust his head into another humans chest. that right there could be assault. it showed a complete absence of class, charisma as you so put it, and most of all sportsmanship. i have never liked the french. they didnt deserve to be in the finals. they squeaked by on the mear theatrics of henry. france has some very good players but they lack in the team part of the game. unluckily its a big part of football. but after all said and done the better team won and the french were shown the door as they should have been in the first round.

I think he has made a foolish move - at the end of a spectacular career, and at the final of the world cup to do something like that for whatever reason. He let himself down and his team - I really wish he didn't do that. But wishes don't always come through!!!

I think Metazzi deliberately provoked Zidane.

I read from another forum that the Italian Materazzi appeared to pinch and twist Zidannes nipple as he let go of him in the penalty area, Zidannes first reaction was shock and when he realised what had happened I think he lost his temper. Watch the replay carefully he twisted his hand as he let go.

I was astonished! Flabbergasted! APPALLED!!!!
I also feel terrible for him as I think he realized the extent of his action as he was heading to the lockers, it looked like he may have shed a tear. I just hope his entire carreer isn't going to be blackened and his claim to fame as a head butt. Viva Italia! ( what heart)

good he got sent off. he got red carded in his last game and has let his whole team down. and they lost the world cup. good riddence. hes a savage beast for that headbutt and for all you people who applaud that behaviour i only have one thing to say, materazzi scored a goal and penalty and itlalia are the champions, yessssss.
