A baby--of any age, any size--should nurse when he is hungry and as much as he is hungry for.

This is what most pediatricians go by--half the baby's weight--half of 7 pound baby is 3.5. So the baby should eat 3.5 ounces per feeding. Feedings should be 3-4 hours apart.

If you are breast feeding he will let you know when he is done. Feed him every two hours. If you are doing formula, try to feed him 2 oz. every two hours. Didn't they go over this with you in the hospital? Go buy a book on how to take care of your baby through the first year. Talk to your doctor.

you should not worry about the baby. He will tell you when he is hungry. when I had my second son he wont eat for me in the hospital. They nurses had to force him to eat. When he came home he ate 4ounce every two hours. he was only a week old. so he will tell you when he is hungry. all baby's are different.

Probably about 3 oz. every 2-4 hours. When he starts drinking the whole bottle add another oz.

Breastfeeding should be on demand. Whenever baby starts to root around, feed him. They will let you know when they are done.
If you are formula feeding, same concept. 2 ounces at a time, whenever baby shows signs of being hungry.

Man, you feed them as much as they want, as often as they want. They need to eat whenver they are hungry. A plump baby is a healthy baby.
When they cry they are either needing held, fed, or changed. If they don't need changed, and your holding them, feed them. Initially they should only be breast fed. Don't use formula mothers milk is best. It sets them up for success.

As much as it wants and very often too! A baby will take what it needs. Offer it often!
