Can anyone tell me how to remove diesel fuel from boat cover?

fuel leaked on a new boat cover made of a heavy plastic/like tarp and it is circled where fuel touched it. If I can get the smell out it would help.

I got some gasoline on mine and used dish soap and a brush laying it on the ground. I then water hosed it clear. It left a stain.

Try covering the area with baking soda, That should eventually take the odor away.
