True communism could only happen when there is only one country on Earth. I think most people have a clouded and incorrect view of what communism really is.

I live in China, I am an American and white. Communism in the pure sense is too idealistic and here, the government has had to modify its thoughts to progress and to become part of the world community. Many people think of communism as a repressive form of government but it isn't so in China. I am free to travel and do virtually the same things that I could in America. My Chinese friends share the same. The profit motivation is becoming part of this society and it spurs creativeness, and several joint-venture companies have done well, companies such as ARCO, Shell and others. But communism is still here and I have attended many parties of the young communist party and had a great time, they often reminded me of a high school dance and were for fun, not rhetoric. Here it is a means to keep the government cohesive and focus people on national development rather than political indoctrination or subordination.

Communism is a sick, twisted form of government. It is nothing less than slavery. At the top, you have the hypocritical, bloated Communist party bosses who enjoy all sorts of perks and luxuries that the average person will never be allowed to have.
The best political system is one which is most like a marriage. Communism is like slave owner and slave. The Communist Party bosses tell you where you could live, what you can study in school, if and where you can travel, etc. For good measure, they fence you in, just in case you think about escaping.
As an example, Soviet Communism was an attempt to create a new, selfless man. However, as any vibrant capitalist economy will show, an economy only works when people are working in their own self interest. Ayn Rand had it right when she extolled the virtues of selfishness.
Economically, the only thing Communism did was to make EVERYONE poor.
To show the level of apathy that Communism creates, here are a couple things you could always hear in those countries:
1) They pretend to pay me, and I pretend to work.
2) If you aren't stealing from your job, you're taking food out of your family's mouth.
Communism also depends on depriving people of their right to know what is happening in the outside world. When the people of Russia and Eastern Europe saw the great disparity between how they lived and the West, they were angry, bitter, and resentful. Communism could only survive on lies, so once people knew the truth, Communism was doomed due to lack of popular support.
If you want to see the true, vile nature of Communism, watch the movie DARK BLUE WORLD. It recounts how the brave Czech pilots who refused to surrender fled to England to join the fight against the Nazis. After the war, the Communists feared they had picked up dangerous Western ideas about freedom. So, they had these heroic Czech pilots thrown into a nighmarish prison, where some of the guards were the same Nazis they risked their lives to defeat.
Still think Communism is good?

The reason that people think that communism is bad is because everything that we have learn about communism in the past is from from places like Russia. People go by what they know from history. There have been a lot of countries that have had communism and have done bad things. Also people do not know how to tell the difference between politics and politicians. There are leaders of other political stands that have also done evil. As for there never being true communism, then you have never been to China. China is probably the truest form of communism that you are going to find.

Show me a country where pure Communism exists. You can't. The Communist model relies on the state to act in the best interest of the people all the time. Show me a Communist country without corruption. You can't. A Communist government has to make choices as to what is fair for everyone. Show me a Communist country with a minority population that's happy. Can't do that either. Other than these reasons, and the 3 hour wait to get a roll of recycled cardboard toilet paper (no Charmine, you get what the state provides), Communism is just a big happy party.

True communism has in fact never happened on Earth.
If it had it would not have the same reputation. The only reason why communism has such a bad rep is because the people in power of nations that practiced it messed up BADLY.
Socialism is similar to communism, but it's hardly as restrictive as communism. Socialism exists in America as well, Amtrak, and Fed-Ex being two examples of state-run businesses.

do you like nice things? do you want something to work for? what about your religion? im sure you enjoy that. i know what true communism is, and its still faulty.
with communism the government owns everything. your house, your car, you. its all the same. you dont get nice things. you get the same thing that everyone else has. they say there is a lack of motivation in todays generation to work, but with communism there is less because the government chooses what you get, and not by how hard you work and what your salery is.
ahh, your religion...im sure you have grown quite fond of your god. you probably pray, or at least thank him for your good fortunes. well, communism is all about being the same, and because religions are different, communism is atheist. now, while i would love to live in an atheist country (i am one), i want to live in an atheist country because the people choose not to believe in god...not because the government says they can. so, if givin the choice, i would live i a country where 99% of the people are christians but they choose to be than live in a 100% atheist country because the government says they have to be.
as a child, what did you want to be when you grew up? a doctor? soldier? maybe a police officer? in a communist country, you do not choose. the government chooses for you.
so, if you want an intelligent answer, you got one. now, think, do you really want to live in a communist country?
if so, i have just one thing to say to you, commie: you know what...never mind. move to North Korea. im sure they would enjoy having an American around.
and Truely is completly right. best thing George Orwell (think thats his name) ever said.

they were taught this from birth at least all those raised since 1950 were.
In theory it is fine and a good means for people to have equal wages and benefits in practice it did not work for lack of financing it takes a few years of hard work to get this type of system of the ground and after the october revolution many people stilled suffered in poverty it was only building a military that got people working .farms needed to produce food for the people mining was needed for materials and the needed homes it is to bad all the profits from this work got wasted on the military and the infrastructure that grew with it.
a workers society is fair and does not overpay any worker all achieve one ness and this is thought to create a lack of innitiative to work hard .
With all people receiving the same benefit why work hard .
THIS fact is un-true and part of the propaganda used to bring down communism. CHINA today is becoming more socialistic then at anytime in history .SOME where between capitalism and communism is a happy middle ground socialism .i said a bad word but socialism done right can provide a benefit ttto society where welfare only takes .

People think it is bad because it is bad.
Communism promotes "from each according to their ability, to each according to their need" (quote from Marx, the racist who believed black people were inferior and needed to be left out of the communist equation).
Communism ignores human nature when it comes to productivity. Humans avoid pain(work) and enjoy pleasure(reward). If you believe this to be true then you cannot believe that communism will work.
With communism everyone is rewarded the same for inequal amounts of pain/work. Once the individual humans realise that they can still receive the same rewards(pleasure) for less work/pain, they will tend toward doing no work. This will be how things will tend for everyone, to the point where all work will cease. And at that point, nobody will receive any reward.
The only way communism has any chance of working is by working with human nature's tendency to avoid pain/work. That is by not rewarding work with pleasure, but by rewarding the lack of work with pain. With people living not by the motivation of the carrot, but the motivation of the rod.
That is why people think communism is bad.

The lack of free thinking. The lack of free enterprise. The lack of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. True communism like anything else must be controlled by some form of higher authority. And as we found out with the USSR, absolute power corrupts absolutely.

Because true Communism stifles individual effort and by removing the rewards for that effort it stifles progress for the entire community.
The Pilgrims (you remember them?) tried a form of Communism when they first landed in the new world. They almost starved because there was no reward for hard work.
Then they abandoned the idea and switched to a work/reward system and prospered.
