I had France's back all the way even though this game seemed a bit lackluster. But what I CAN'T stand to see is outright unsportsman-like conduct. A head butt??? Not even in the heat of the moment if you ask me. Did he want off the field after Henry left? Was the team not following his lead and he just said 'forget it'? Feedback please, cuz I'm at a loss.

TO ITALY: I wasn't in your corner but you played a good game...Congrats!

I think Zidane was paid off!! He must have been. He's too experienced, too talented, and understood what the consequences would be. No explanation.

I HATE ITALY!!!!!!! I HATE ITALy!!!!!!!!!!!
Like the commentator said -- 1st they broke German hearts (sob!) and now French hearts. B's!! I want to yell out a string of abuses but I don't want Y! to kick ME off!!!! Getting Zidane --the player of the DECADE sent off???!!
THOSE CHEATS!!!!!
It must have been something really bad or Zidane wouldn't have head-butted him and gone off and left his team --I didnt even see him come back for his medal!! Poor guy! What an end to an awesome career --He was -(I still want to say 'is')- untouchable. Not 1 foul the whole World Cup. What a guy!!
DOES ANYONE KNOW WHAT HAPPENED IN THE DRESSING ROOM? Why didn't he come back?
That italian guy should be bashed up! I can't stand these young upstarts who try to upstage legends. Italian Pipsqueak!
Zidane- has his own song, a player with charisma, was supposed to get 'The golden ball' award, supposed to have a movie made after him --and now??? So sad how life has a way that 1 moment can change your whole life. I want to believe that there are 2nd chances, but I just don't know what to think now. When France won against Portugal, all of them were jumping around like lunatics, thrusting around probably worse than Shakira!- but Zidane, such a gentleman to the end, stood his ground, smiling, hugging people. Zidane.. Zezou.. Zezou zeZou ZeZou..la ..la.. I'll sing your song to the end.. zezou... Zezou-Zezou ZEzou.....ZeZOU

What a way to end a brilliant career!! Unbelievable, It just showed that the French guys underestimated the Italians.!! They never expected that they would reach up to second overtime. Thats when the mood swings comes out in the open and gets the better of you. Italy deserves it and won it squarely and convincingly. Sometimes the underdog could turn the world upside down and it did for France. Cheers!!!!

Yes, frustration plays a big part in sports. Zinedine Zidane lost it, plain and simple. His act of cowardice cost his team the world championship.
At the same time, it is a reflection of the French spirit in their modern world! What cowards they are! What embiciles!
It just goes to show you what kind of backbone these French have: Jelly! Aspinous jellyfish!
Frankly, I am not at all surprised.

After the Portugal vs. France game, I hate the french, but Zidan had a perfect career, and if he act the way he did, was because the italian player wasnt nice to him eighter...

Marco Materazzi just exposed to the world the type of player Zidane is. He is very selfish....takes every penalty kicks (even when he is not fouled), takes the credit from the other players especially HENRY. It was just about time for Karma to catch up on him.

The other guy must have said something really bad to make him do that. But he still should have not done that! After all he is the best player on the French team and should have known better.

ya i was cheering for italy anyway, but when i saw what zidane did, i was soooo confused!! no matter what, there is no excuse for that behavior. he could have stopped the guy's heart by hitting him that hard in his chest. he could have gone home a hero, but he now he will always be hated. i think france could have won if he was in for hte rest of teh game.

Apparently, he lost his cool and his head. Then he lost the rest of his playing time and made his team be a man down. He just wasn't thinking clearly.
