Look at what's going on in the italian leagues at the moment:
Many players and referees are involved in a huge corruption scandal.
Do you still wonder why the french player Trezeguet missed the shot? He usually plays for an ITALIAN team. He would have lost his job and maybe more.
Do you still wonder why the argentinian referee did NOT give a penalty shot to France after the second bad foul from an italian player in the box? That was a blatant penalty, everybody could see that. Money makes blind.

Of course they didn't miss any shot, but other than that, Italy has a team in which everyone has something to contribute with, while France always relies on Zidane or Henry, and today that didn't work out. Plus, Domenech had it coming for not including Trezeguet in the entire World Cup, he missed his shot: instant karma.

they were tied 1 to 1 through overtime...then italy got all of their 5 free shots, and france missed one. So italy won.

1 teamwork...10 players on the scoresheet.
2 determination....to stamp out all the scandal of italian football.
3 defence.....cannavaro was the best player in 2006. zambrotta & grosso was great with overlaps...materazzi showed uncharecteristic poise.
4 midfield....i think this is where the difference was made from past italian sides..an attack minded midfield .....with the gutsy gattuso in middle.

because italy's captain, who is a very skillful player and usually one who is REALLY good at taking PKs *cough* *cough*, doesnt headbutt players from the other team in the chest. :D
