I know back when they had gift certificates it was up to each franchise wether or not they accepted them. It sucked cause my mom got me some certs for my birthday and the local one didn't accept them!

I honestly am not sure, I know there is a roll out schedule for the gift cards and I know they will be accepted all over by the end of the year. The best bet would to be to call your grandfather and ask him if the local store do yet or not.

Have your mother buy him a gift card from a major credit card company. Those are accepted at most McDonalds.

yes, mc donalds gift cards worked in all 50 states. As for puerto rico and other us states outside the mainland(us virgin islands, puerto rico, etcetera)-- they accept gift certficates.
